Sona Research

Mission

Sona Research is an independent laboratory for the research and development of socially beneficial applications of interactive media and technology. Our research is cross-disciplinary, involving collaboration between computer scientists, media artists, psychologists, neuroscientists, filmmakers, choreographers and related disciplines.

Activities

Sona Research conducts fundamental and applied research to create socially beneficial media technologies and applications.  Our initiatives are in education, cultural enrichment, perception, psychology, new forms of media, environmental sustainability, positive health outcomes, and psychological health. An important part of our activities are scientific and cultural outreach to children and laypeople through science museums, cultural institutions, and mainstream media.

Support

Sona Research is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit California corporation. We are primarily supported by grants, in-kind services, and facilities provided by partner organizations.
